Detour

My dear friend came to visit from Vermont last night on her way to an appointment in Manhattan. When she arrived, she revealed that her appointment was at Sloan Kettering, so I ditched my practice and whatever else was lined up (not much) for today, and hopped on the train with her. Entire morning in waiting rooms, and then hopping back on the train back to CT so she can drive back to VT because of course life starts unraveling around you when you need self care. All I had to do is stay present and she was so appreciative. The women you forged ties with in your 20’s, if you are still bound in some way, what a tight and sturdy knot you made. It wont unravel like the other stuff.
