On The Other Hand…

I quite enjoy it when someone is this generous in sharing their workshop notes. These have been making the rounds on the blogosphere so you may have partaken already Ashtanga Vinyasa Krama Yoga at Home: GUEST POST Notes from 2012 Ashtanga Mela at Kripalu with David Williams, David Swenson and Danny Paradise.

Lots of good stuff, but what stuck with me was that Guruji stopped practicing at 53. I started my practice a few months before my 50th birthday. I felt a little blue after reading that but then I remembered that David Swenson is one year older than I am and he is still rocking it. Yes he started at 13 but so far he does not seem to have been invited to give any asana back. Plus my only goal is to someday have an unfutzified primary.

In other news, I am kind of bummed about the cancellation of David Garrigues’ Mysore session tomorrow due to an unavoidable circumstance. I only had $ for that session and Saturday afternoon’s lecture. So I will focus on the half full portion of the glass.

  1. Hey, I’m almost 59. I started at 55. I can’t do everything but I do primary with modifications and my life has been transformed and isn’t that what counts? I was at the yoga mela. I think Danny Paradise is almost my age, David Williams is 63. It is what it is. Don’t be bummed. Yoga is a gift.

    • Hi S, That is the only reason to be here, transformation. You are so right. The time hoarder in me just kicks in sometimes with some help form the shoulda-couldas…
I’m heading out of the rough patch I was in a few days ago, and looking forward to improving my awareness again.
